Itinerary - Surf & Turf
Mountain Biking - River Mtns
6:30 a.m. Hotel Pickups from Las Vegas Strip
7:00 a.m. Check-in and paperwork.
Coffee and restrooms are available.
7:15 a.m. Brief instruction for use of bikes and safety.
Warm up in parking lot, practice using proper
gears and brakes.
7:30 a.m. Depart for the River Mountain Trail. Bike
approximately 3 miles.
8:00 a.m. Optional stop at Hemenway park to view Desert
Bighorn sheep if season allows.
8:15 a.m. Continue biking 3-4 miles downhill toward Lake
Mead. Path leaves neighborhoods and heads off
into the Mohave Desert, where you have a
good chance of spotting coyotes, lizards, and
desert bighorn sheep.
9:00 a.m. Water and snack break
9:05 a.m. Ride approximately 3 miles
9:20 a.m. Arrive at Railroad tunnel trail near Lake Mead
Visitors Center.
9:30 a.m. Bike through entrance station to Lake Mead and
follow trail to Boulder Beach.
9:45 a.m. Arrive at Boulder Beach. Follow dirt road to
edge of lake, where kayaks await.
Kayaking - Lake Mead
10:00 a.m. Trade in your bikes for kayaks. Get suited up
with paddling gear, and fitted into your boats.
10:30 a.m. Paddling instruction and safety briefing.
10:45 a.m. Kayak about 1.5 miles toward the Boulder
Islands. Stop at the cement ring for a history
lesson on construction of the Hoover Dam.
11:15 a.m. Paddle about .5 mile to a nice beach where
you will can explore the islands while hiking.
12:00 p.m. Enjoy a deli style lunch from Capriotti's on the
beach. Relax in the sun or cool off in the
refreshing waters.
1:00 p.m. Kayak for 1.5 miles, exploring further reaches
of the islands before heading back.
1:40 p.m. Arrive back at Boulder Beach. Load
equipment and kayaks.
2:00 p.m. Stop at Hemenway park to view wildlife
2:15 p.m. Brief stop at shop to use restrooms and buy
souvenirs
3:00 p.m. Arrive at hotels on Las Vegas Strip

Details: Approximately 12 miles of scenic biking on paved and packed dirt trails.
Bike trail is 75% downhill grade. Approximately 3-4 miles of kayaking on Lake Mead. Mostly flatwater with
possible wind & waves.
Elevation Loss/Gain: 400' Gain / 1500' Loss
Lake Temperature: 56F Winter / 85F Summer
Equipment: High-end mountain bikes and touring kayaks with all safety equipment,
gear, and instructions are included.
