Questions

Where do we meet the morning of the tour?
Our van will stop at 4 pickup points along the Las Vegas Strip. If you are staying at another location, choose the pickup point nearest your hotel. The pickups and times are as follows:
#1) 6:00AM at Mandalay Bay Shark Reef Entrance
#2) 6:15AM at Treasure Island Buccaneer Bay Blvd.
#3) 6:30AM at Stratosphere Tour Entrance
#4) 6:45AM at USA Hostel on Fremont (side street)

What time will we get back?
Return to the Las Vegas Strip locations is roughly 7PM PCT on Wednesday (for Canyon Escape) or Thursday (for Grand Cirlce).

What is included during the trip?
Guided trips are all inclusive. Round trip transportation to and from Las Vegas, along with all in-park transfers and fees, is included. You will get personalized service, freshly prepared and tasty meals, and lodging in Native American style teepees.

Do you offer student discounts?
Yes! We offer student backpacker rates, which are discounted. You must supply a valid/current student ID to qualify.

Do you offer any discounts for children (or other)?
Children under the age of 16 (15 and younger) receive a $50 dollar discount per person for the Canyon Escape and Grand Circle Trips. All other guided tours are $10 discount.

Is there a minimum age requirement?
Days are long. To make the most of our trip, we rise early and retire late. Young children sometimes struggle with the lengthy days, and long drives. For the enjoyment of everyone on the Canyon Escape trips, we ask that children be at least 12 years or older.

What kind of experience do your guides have?
Our guides have years of experience in the outdoors; both personally and professionally. They possess a vast knowledge of the areas we visit, the trails, the wildlife, the plants, and weather patterns. Before they can become lead guides, they must undergo strict training programs which prepare them to manage groups, make good decisions, and handle emergencies. CPR and First Aid training, as well as Wilderness First Aid or First Responder is standard, and we carry satellite radios and/or cell phones at all times.

Is there white water rafting?
On the 3 day Canyon Escape, activities include hiking and optional horseback riding. If you opt for the 4 day Grand Circle, we add an extra day for whitewater rafting activities and ATV or mountain bike riding.

What should I bring/wear?
Take a look at our packing list section, for a complete outline of items to bring on the Canyon Escape.  If you have questions, don't hesitate to call our office. We will be happy to answer any questions you have about clothing, hiking boots, sleeping bag ratings, etc.

Do you supply alcohol? May we bring our own?
We do not supply alcohol, however you may bring your own for dinner, or the campfire. You will have an opportunity to purchase last minute items, beer, or wine before heading to camp, so if this interests you, bring some spending cash.

When should I make a reservation?
Space is limited, so you should make your reservations as soon as possible. This trip departs the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month.

Are there minimum participant requirements?
Yes. In order to keep prices affordable, our trips have a minimum number of participants in order to run as scheduled. In the event we are 1 or 2 people short, we will offer the option of still running the trip, for a small additional fee. We will also do everything in our power to reschedule you, or move you to another tour - even if it means with another company. If none of these options work with your schedule, we will refund your money 100%.

Should I buy travel insurance?
If you are concerned about the possibility of having to cancel, we strongly suggest you purchase trip cancellation insurance to protect your vacation investment. Our cancellation policy will apply in every instance, with no exceptions for any reason. Desert Adventures is not responsible for any expenses incurred due to travel delays, flight cancellations, or illness. Desert Adventures assumes no financial responsibility for personal injury, emergency evacuation, or equipment lost or damaged in any way.

What if I have to cancel?
We have a 14 day cancellation policy. Cancellations made 2 weeks prior to departure date will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within those dates will be issued a percentage of their refund, with absolutely no refunds or rescheduling within 48 hours. If you must reschedule, we require 48 hours notice and rescheduling fees will apply. Desert Adventures will not issue any refund for leaving a trip early. Trips run rain or shine. Desert Adventures reserves the right to cancel trips due to weather or unsafe conditions. In this case, we will reschedule, issue a credit, or refund money, depending on individual circumstances. For more information see our Payment & Cancellation Policies section, or call our offices.
