Wilderness First Responder Course
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the ideal medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and
others who work or play in remote areas.
Wilderness Medicine differs significantly from conventional EMS courses and other programs that are oriented toward the urban
environment. This 80-hour course will teach participants how to manage medical and trauma situations in
remote settings when access to 911 or a hospital is unlikely or delayed. Learn how to improvise with what's readily available.
Explore options when medical evacuation is not an option.
Topics include patient assessment, body systems, toxins, near drowning, dislocations, wilderness rescue, hypothermia, and much
more.
Typically, half of your day will be devoted to classroom lecture and discussion with half outdoors for practical skills
training and scenarios. Evenings are reserved for study and assignments. You should expect rescue scenarios with made-up
victims and simulated wounds to prepare you for backcountry emergencies. Sessions may be videotaped for enhanced learning. You will
receive a three-year WFR certification.
NO PREVIOUS MEDICAL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.
We recommend reserving space early as class size is limited. If you would like to schedule
a private class for your own group, advance notice is required. Please contact us for rates and availability at 702-293-5026 .

**This class meets the requirements of National Park Service for Guides and Outfitters, to be in compliance with
the Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) permit.
