Our Story
Desert Adventures was established in 2004 by founder and pilot, James Dingess. The company was born out of the need for reliable service,
better kayaks, and all-around premium backcountry adventures. We had humble beginnings; just a handful of kayaks
and no employees.
But soon, the company took on a life of it's own.
Within a short time, we have emerged a full-blown adventure company. Our trips include hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, ATV tours, horseback riding, and adventures in Zion,
Bryce, and the Grand Canyon. Multi-day and multi-sport tours have been added to our menu. We house a
team of well-trained and knowledgeable Guides to answer questions, lead adventures, teach and instruct,
or even recommend local fare.
With all this growth, we have managed to hold tight to our roots. Paddling is still our specialty...
and we can prove it with over 90 boats in our rental fleet.
Our retail shop is located in Boulder City, Nevada, about 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip
and 10 miles from the Hoover Dam. We sell high performance sea kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards,
along with paddles, pfd's, and accessories to outfit your entire trip. You can also rent camping equipment
such as sleeping bags, stoves, tents, coolers, and mess kits - so you don't have to worry about packing it
on the plane ride out to Vegas.
